Tidbit Tuesday #4: Making the Most of Your Getting Ready Photos
Having photos of you getting ready may not seem very important, but your getting ready photos are a big part of your day! You spend hours having your hair and makeup done and hanging out with your best friends before you walk down the aisle, so why not commemorate it?
The first thing you want your bridal suite to have is a lot of natural light (window light). This makes a world of a difference in your images! I promise! Make sure that the area near the biggest window in the room is free of trash and clutter. This is where you will be putting on your wedding dress and we don't want any distractions in the background taking away from your bridal portraits!
To add extra detail to your getting ready photos, there are several things that you can do:
1. Matching Bridal Robes - have your Maid of Honor and your bridesmaids in matching bridal robes! This makes the image look cleaner and it draws the viewers eye to everyone's faces! If bridal robes are not in your budget, you can accomplish something similar by having everyone wear the same color in similar outfits!
2. Champagne - champagne is great for toasting with your friends or drinking mimosas! Or both!
3. Toasting flutes - because the little details matter, it looks great in photos to have matching flutes for your champagne!
4. Confetti champagne bottle - If you want to add a fun getting ready shot to your gallery, buy a confetti champagne bottle! The joy and surprise on your best friends faces really shows in these shots :)
5. This isn't necessarily photography related, but make sure you have plenty of snacks and water for your friends to eat and drink! Everyone getting their hair and makeup done can take hours, and you don't want any starving bridesmaids! Also give yourself plenty of time to get ready (more than you think you will need) - it is always better to be done getting ready early than have your timeline get pushed back because you are ready later than expected!
